For its tenth birthday, Weekend Media Festival will host Turo, the world’s leading peer-to-peer car sharing company. To mark this event, Turo will offer its services in Croatia during a one-time promotion during the Weekend Media Festival.
Turo is one of the successful US startups that have grown up on the principle of sharing economics. It was founded in 2009 in San Francisco. Car owners can easily rent their car while they are not using it, and thus make money, and anyone can rent a car perfect for their needs with a single click on the app. The business model is simple: it is unprofitable to own a car that is actually parked most of the time, and this way the car pays for itself.
It is used in over 4,700 cities in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, and has grown into a community of over three million members. Each member earns $534 per month on average, which is more than enough to cover monthly car expenses.
“We are excited about coming to the Weekend Media Festival,” said Matheus Riolfi, director of international expansion in Turo. “We are looking forward to present to the festival participants at least part of what makes Turo special for both car owners and passengers.”
The tenth Weekend Media Festival will be held from 21 to 24 September in the premises of the old Tobacco Factory in Rovinj, under the patronage of the Adris Group. In its first decade, the Weekend hosted nearly 45,000 participants: 1,000 speakers, 35,000 media, marketing and PR professionals, 3,500 students and 5,000 accredited journalists from across the region. It has positioned itself as the largest communications festival in Southeast Europe, and has also announced some of the top trends such as mobile advertising, native advertising, digitization, programming and blockchain.
Weekend is not only reserved for lectures and discussions, but is also a place for parties and networking that will be raised to a new level this year. The carefully designed music program has always been one of the strongest trump cards of the festival, and this year there will be surprises appropriate for the great jubilee.
