Once again the award ceremony marked the end of another WEBSI Web Champions contest and project. 23 awards were awarded. 2017 Digital Agency of the Year was Mediadrom, Overall Web Champion was mobile app Triglav Vrijeme (Triglav osiguranje), 2017 Digital Campaign of the Year was the global campaign Slovenia. Make New Memories of the Slovenian Tourist Organization and agency PM. The novelty in the competition was the Digital Person of the Year, which went to three individuals: Dušan Boldin (AV studio), Dejan Rajković (Adriatic Slovenica) and Matej Praprotnik (RTV Slovenia – Radio Slovenia). Web champs and other experts and enthusiasts in the field of digital communication mingled at the WEBSI Day, a festival of Slovenian digital communication, which hosted numerous interesting guests who presented current topics. Jaka Lenardic, Director, ENKI, spoke about the development of internet platforms, and why websites are not a product of just appealing graphics. Nina Leskovar, head of social networks at Lidl Slovenia, revealed how Lidl manages to keep their followers on social networks engaged every day, how they inspire them and how they sell this way. The difference between concepts and mechanics was explained by Anja Šeme Todorovič, project director at Agency 101. Maša Butara, digital communication expert, Luna TBWA, presented the digitization of internal communication. Andrej Beširevič, digital concept specialist and Miha Rejc, head of social media department from iPROM explained what happens when the user generated content becomes an ad. Željko Plesac, technical director at Infinum SI, advised how to quickly respond to new technologies. Matjaž Butara, director of customer management team at Grey Ljubljana spoke about the ads which are not ads, while Ana Kuščer, head of projects at E-laborat, spoke about new trends in user experience.
The conference section was completed with a round table that revealed the topic of influencer marketing. Moderator Nika Horvat, project leader at AV Studio, spoke with guests who are either influencers or work with influencers: Ciril Komotar, Komotar Minuta, Eva Ana Kazič, Allaroundeve, Rok Terkaj, Trkaj, Simon Šketa, Šketa.si and Viktorija Radojević executive marketing director at Mercator.
WEBSI Dossier
A comprehensive WEBSI Dossier also came out, featuring all submitted projects, winners, expert and business jury and the directory of agencies. The Dossier is one of the few publications in Slovenia that presents digital works in print. It is also stored in the National and University Library and thus represents an important segment in the archiving of digital content on the Slovenian soil.
