Amphitheater in the open part of the complex of the social welfare institution “Dr. Milorad Pavlović” in Sremska Kamenica was reconstructed with the help of employees of the Direct Media system.
The old concrete amphitheater needed renovation, removing the decayed parts and laying down new concrete. After replacing the concrete, the Direct Media system employees painted the amphitheater in the colors of the rainbow, which are mentioned in the anthem of the Children’s Village.
On the same day, employees organized a projection of the VR exhibition “Experience Tesla”, which Direct Media donated to the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade.
The Children’s Village is a social welfare institution that cares for children and young people without parental care, and is located in Kamenica Park, surrounded by nature. Children are accommodated in homes that meet all standards and children’s needs, and work is organized in educational groups with teachers, social workers and a psychologist. In the village there is an open-air amphitheater, and in the center of the village there’s a fountain which refreshes the space.
“The fountain and open-air amphitheater were the ‘playground’ for the employees from Direct Media. With their whole-day engagement they brought satisfaction to the children from the Children’s Village and our employees. The space has been given a new dimension, and the children had a chance to socialize with the volunteers, to watch the presentation of Nikola Tesla exhibition in virtual reality, and to play with the animators. All this was made possible by Direct Media, and we are grateful to them. They showed us that there are people of good will who are ready to take their time and do something nice and good for others. We will remember this and will surely nurture this culture of giving and helping others in our children. Once again, thank you, the doors of the Children’s Village are always open to employees from Direct Media,” said Mirko Jankelić, acting director of the Social Protection Institution “Dr. Milorad Pavlovic” in Sremska Kamenica.
The renovations on the amphitheater lasted 8 hours, and in that time around 400 square meters of amphitheater was painted.
“When we say social responsibility, we think of donating the Tesla exhibition, scholarships for young athletes, pro bono communication counseling which we provide to associations such as NURDOR, but also to pull up our sleeves and paint something. Throughout these activities, we are introduced to different segments of society and provide support wherever we can. The Children’s Village is an important social welfare institution which, during its existence, was a safe place for more than 1000 children and young people. In conversation with the director and employees we came up with the idea of reconstructing the amphitheater and we hope that this space will make it more useful and nicer,” said Direct Media Director Jovan Stojanovic.
Direct Media employees volunteer each year, and during previous volunteer actions, they have helped arrange over 1000m2 of space in the homes in Zvečanska, then the space at Belgrade’s Center for Children from the Street, and have spent four months in empowering women and children from the Safe House in Belgrade, for which they received the award for corporate volunteering from the Forum for Responsible Business.
