Joe La Pompe, a blogger and publicist, has been a copywriter for fifteen years in major French advertising agencies. Today, he is very critical of work in the agencies. First thing that bothers him is the laziness of creatives who often don’t take even a few minutes to check if their creative idea is really fresh and original as they think.
Plagiarism is a very controversial topic in the advertising industry.
“Art directors believe they are artists, which, in a certain way, they are. Creatives are often self-centered megalomaniacs. I’m also amazed by their excuses, such as ‘we did not know’, or ‘how could we know?’. In most cases, it takes me a maximum of fifteen minutes to determine that their work is not genuine. They look for creative concepts for weeks, and don’t even try to devote at least ten minutes to checking if they are really genuine.”
Joe will show some copies at SEMPL that are so shameless that you will be left without words.
