In this context, large-format inkjet systems such as Canon imagePROGRAF PRO are used to meet requirements around colour range, precision, and output consistency, both in fine art production and in commercial campaigns.
A Different Way of Seeing
Among the users is Slovenian company Grain, a distributor of graphic materials and the company behind the Lenticular Planet brand. Grain entered the field of lenticular printing, widely regarded as one of the more technically demanding print disciplines, nearly eight years ago.
“Back in 2015, I saw a sample of lenticular printing for the first time, and its premium qualities immediately impressed me. That small sample sparked a big idea: that we, too, could create visually stunning products that would captivate people all over the world,” said Klemen Tratar, Owner and CEO of Grain and Lenticular Planet.
Turning that vision into reality, however, proved challenging. “We tried the ‘best of the best’ in the printing world, but initially, we couldn’t get the results we needed,” he explains. They needed a production setup capable of delivering stable, repeatable quality across multiple print runs.
From Commercial Projects to Institutional Exhibitions
The collaboration with Fiteh, a Canon Certified Partner, introduced Lenticular Planet to the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO series.
„Fiteh saw our project as a challenge for themselves as well, and together we found solutions that now allow us to produce what, I dare say, is the best lenticular printing in the world,” says Tratar. Since then, Lenticular Planet’s work has been presented in a range of institutional and cultural contexts, including the European Parliament, the Venice Biennale, the Academy Awards ceremony, and the Louvre in Paris.
The company currently operates two imagePROGRAF PRO-6000 printers, which are used for roll-to-roll production and colour-critical printing workflows. Tratar notes that performance consistency has been maintained despite prolonged and intensive use.
He adds: “Consistency in printing is crucial, and like every print shop on the planet, reliable technical support plays a big role, and in my opinion, Canon offers the best.” The company reports that improvements in workflow efficiency as the company reports a 25% increase in productivity, while its projects continue to be exhibited across commercial, cultural, and institutional venues.
Lenticular Planet’s development illustrates how technical problem-solving, production experience, and long-term collaboration can influence the scalability and application of lenticular printing across different contexts.
