On the 160th anniversary of the birth of Nikola Tesla, the first museum exhibition in virtual reality environment called Experience Tesla will open in Belgrade. In anticipation of the Tesla’s anniversary, and to mark the 15th anniversary of its founding, Direct Media presented the Nikola Tesla Museum with a unique exhibition, which will remain part of the virtual heritage of the museum.
“One of the goals of the Museum of Nikola Tesla is to make Tesla’s legacy accessible and understandable for interested visitors around the world, and virtual reality technology provides incredible opportunities for visual reconstruction of situations, spaces and ideas. Therefore, we gratefully accepted the initiative of Direct Media, and with the experts of the company Digital Mind we are diligently working on developing the content of virtual scenes to be presented to the audience on 10 July, the day of Tesla’s birth, as part of a new permanent exhibition of the Museum,” said Branimir Jovanović, director of the Museum of Nikola Tesla.
CEO of Direct Media, Jovan Stojanović, said that it is the duty of successful companies to drive the development of the whole society, and that Direct Media with great satisfaction, in the jubilee year, wishes to share part of their success with the community.
“After the world’s largest museums that relatively recently included virtual reality in their exhibitions, we are proud that we are bringing this global trend in the year of Tesla’s great jubilee to the Museum of Nikola Tesla. Thus our museum will become the first institution in the world to use VR technology to revive the character and achievements of this great scientist,” said Stojanović.
For the purpose of creating a virtual Nikola Tesla, Direct Media tapped their partners from the Digital Mind who, with the technical support of the Museum of Nikola Tesla, brought Tesla’s character to life and the locations in which he will virtually reside and talk with the visitors of the exhibition.
“Museums of virtual reality are certainly the future in museology, where a visitor is no longer a passive observer of the exhibition, but becomes an active part of the story that is now happening all around them the second they step into the virtual world. Tesla’s life and his achievements will be presented to the visitor in virtual reality by Tesla himself, through the unforgettable experience that he inspires, provoking imagination and awakening the desire for knowledge,” said Vitomir Jevremović, author of the exhibition setup and CEO of Digital Mind.

With the opening of the exhibition at the museum, an app will also be launched as well as a website with a 3D display, so that all those who are unable to visit the museum, including visitors from all over the world, could interact with the world’s greatest inventor and become familiar with his accomplishments.
