Supporting Creativity, Authors, and the Best Regional Film

United Media Returns to the Pula Film Festival

Ahead of the opening of the 72nd Pula Film Festival, the company United Media has selected six finalists for the Make the Scene – Comedy Edition program, a regional initiative designed to support the development of original television projects in the comedy and dramedy genres, reports portal Nova.

The shortlist includes authors whose projects stood out for their creativity, authenticity, and screen adaptation potential. The finalists will participate in a preparatory workshop program during the festival in Pula, where they will present their projects to a three-member jury. The best project will be awarded €5,000, while the runner-up will receive professional mentorship to support further development.

Make the Scene – Comedy Edition is yet another initiative by United Media as part of its strategic commitment to strengthening the creative industry and original content production in the region.

In addition, United Media is the sponsor of the newly established Golden Arena for Best Regional Film, once again affirming its dedication to enhancing film and television production in Southeast European countries.

Nataša Buljan, Director of Fiction Development at United Media, is a member of this year’s jury deciding on the Best Regional Film at the Pula Festival and also leads the expert team behind the Make the Scene program.

“This is the second edition of the Make the Scene competition and workshop, through which we aim to continuously create space for new ideas, exciting regional authors, and projects rooted in local sensibility but with universal recognition and appeal. I am thrilled by the diversity and authenticity of the submitted ideas and believe the pitching session will bring plenty of inspiration to everyone working in the creative industry. Additionally, it is a great honor to be part of the jury for the Golden Arena for Best Regional Film – the selection of films is outstanding, and this award further raises the visibility and value of cinematic art in the region, which truly boasts top-tier authors and talent. The Pula Festival continues to grow each year, with an increasingly rich and diverse program and expanding regional influence – we are truly proud to be part of it” said Nataša Buljan.

The final pitching session of the Make the Scene – Comedy Edition program will take place as part of the official festival program in Pula, and the names of the winners will be announced after the presentations.
