With the Special Award for Environmental Awareness, the Sarajevo Film Festival contributes to raising awareness about the importance of environmental protection within its activities and strives to be an environmentally responsible festival, leading positive changes and practices in the field of sustainability.
Films from all festival programs that address environmental issues and contribute to raising awareness and promoting a more sustainable future are eligible for the Special Award for Environmental Awareness.
At this year’s 30th Sarajevo Film Festival, seven films from nine programs are in competition for the Special Award for Environmental Awareness. The films competing for the award will be screened in the following programs: Competition Program – Feature Film, Competition Program – Short Film, Competition Program – Student Film, Kinoscope, European Short Film, Adriatic Region Film Festival Network, TeenArena, Human Rights Day, and the BH Film Program.
The films in competition for the Special Award for Environmental Awareness are:

The award will be decided by a three-member jury consisting of editor, assistant director, and sustainability consultant (film and TV) Dörte Schneider Garcia (Germany), film programmer, selector, researcher, and screenwriter Julian Ross (Netherlands), and screenwriter Misan Sagay (United Kingdom).

The Special Award for Environmental Awareness will be presented at the awards ceremony of the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival on August 23rd. The cash prize for the award is 5,000 euros, and the award is sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNDP in BiH).
The 30th Sarajevo Film Festival will be held from August 16th to 23rd, 2024.
