Competition REGPAK accepts only the best packaging designs from each of the countries in the region, selected and nominated for this prestigious award by experts. The jury is composed of members and representatives of design associations in the region. This is yet another recognition for the Sarajevo Brewery, which last year changed the name of its brand Sarajevsko Beer into Sarajevsko and made a complete change of the logo and visual identity. Design of the series of products started with the agency Luna from Sarajevo, in 2014, and continued in the marketing department of the Sarajevo Brewery. They used the original typography of the product, which adorned the labels of Sarajevsko at the end of the 60s of the twentieth century, and which retained on the label the longest.
“Research was conducted and consumers have chosen this typography and, of course, we respected their wishes. For us in the Sarajevo Brewery, packaging is one of the channels of communication with consumers and we take its design very seriously, because it’s extremely important for the visibility of the product. The primary goal of the new design for Sarajevsko was to emphasize the authenticity and over 150 years of tradition behind our brewery, as well as better visibility of the product and differentiation from the competition. The new label design with all the graphic elements was also adapted for aluminum cans, for which we have applied the final MATT layer, which gives the effect of ‘chillness’ and gives the customer a nicer and more tactile feeling,” said the creative director of the Sarajevo Brewery Samir Plasto.
In addition to the distinctive typography, the graphic element that was used is the motive of the building of Sarajevo Brewery, which is a protected historic building. A mild retro identity was also achieved by the use of precise and harmoniously defined color palette and the introduction of reductions in the design of all packaging.
REGPAK awards for the best packaging in the regional markets were awarded for the seventh consecutive year, and in 17 categories there were more than 80 products from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia.
