Almost three decades have passed since the Perrier water’s „Lion“ ad won the Grand Prix in Film at Cannes Lions, and now the company has issued a remake of it with quite younger stars.
The original spot, created by Ogilvy Paris and directed by Jean-Paul Goude, featured a woman and a lion fighting over a bottle of Perrier, in a desire to quench their thirst.
Now, twenty-eight years later, Ogilvy Paris is still working for Perrier, and have now issued a sort of a sequel to the original ad, this time advertising Perrier Fines Bulles, a line extension of Perrier that has a different carbonation process resulting in smaller bubbles.
Since the bubbles are smaller, everything else had to be as well, including the woman, and the lion. According to the agency, even the music now is „smaller“ than it’s original.
The new ad, like the old one, was filmed in South Africa, this time directed by Johnny Green. „With this new film, we pay homage to the heritage of Perrier,“ Green said. „We sense moves that remind us of a similar story yet stay surprised and amazed and driven by suspense, until we’re rewarded by the iconic remake of the confrontation for the Perrier bottle … of Fines Bulles.“
