The prestigious portal dedicated to the best examples of packaging design from around the world, Packaging of the World, has recently featured the packaging design for NikolaCar craft beer from Serbia, done by Igor Crnatović.
As quoted in the description on this portal, NikolaCar Brewery is the first Serbian “gypsy” brewery, which makes its beers according to original recipes, created by constant experimentation in order to achieve top taste.
It is noted that the brewery and its products are inspired by the principles of punk, and for those in the English speaking area, an explanation is given that “Car” is read as “Tzar”, and not as some vehicle.
And who is NikolaCar? “Nikola is one of the best Belgrade bartenders, a punk rocker, pretty untalented but charismatic bass player.” It is important to note that the entire concept of visual identity is actually based on Nikola’s face, so the labels for each of the products carry his face, but each one in a unique way. “t’s not an ego trip, it’s just the way it is,” reads the description.
