Croatian Telecom (HT) and Croatian manufacturer of electric bicycles Greyp will collaborate on a new model of Greyp electric bicycle, which will be powered with HT’s new innovative eSIM service. This is a great innovation on the Croatian market, but also within the Deutsche Telekom Group. The connected electric bicycle is expected to hit the market next spring.
eSIM represents a major breakthrough because it replaces the use of physical SIM cards and enables various devices to connect to the internet independently. Thus, the new generation of Greyp bikes, through HT’s eSIM profile, will exchange data between the bike and the web and mobile apps without the need for a physical SIM card.
The Greyp bike has a number of great features such as automatic video recording, fitness tracking, alarm, remote control and data exchange via social networks. Some of the other functionalities are the automatic distress call based on the data of the G-sensor and the gyroscope; display, logging and engine management based on the heart rate of the driver; collecting and displaying data about speed, distance traveled, power consumption, burned calories, driving time, etc.
“When we launched the eSIM feature, one of our priorities from the start were smart vehicles. Greyp ideally fits into our eSIM technology expansion strategy, as it is an innovative Croatian product that doesn’t burden the environment with its electric drive. We are sure that eSIM will soon be a global standard for smart devices, and HT will ensure that it offers its customers more and more devices that support this service,” said Richard Brešković, Director of Marketing for Private Users at HT.
The physical SIM card in the bicycle will be completely replaced by the chipset that will support HT’s eSIM service and which will allow customization of settings for individual users by downloading eSIM profiles to different devices. It is expected that in the next two years an average user will have even more than four connected devices, and eSIM technology will enable user connectivity across multiple devices.
