UNICEF and the Agency for Electronic Media (AEM) presented the second wave of the campaign to raise media literacy. Croatian Association of Communications Agencies (HURA) participated in the preparation of recommendations for the protection of children and safe use of electronic media in May this year.

In cooperation with UNICEF, the Agency for Electronic Media via portal medijskapismenost.hr now made a new breakthrough in the media empowering of parents and teachers. A media campaign will invite parents, guardians and teachers throughout Croatia to join the growing community of users of the portal dedicated to the “alphabet of the 21st century” and learn how to better understand the media, select media content, and talk about them with kids. The campaign is supported by all national TV stations and numerous online portals.

Portal medijskapismenost.hr is intended for all who care that children and young people navigate through the world of media safer. More on how the media, media platforms and products may affect the development of children, all who are interested can learn from articles and comments that include a wide range of topics such as internet safety, violence in the media, stereotypes, influence of media on children’s development and the like. The portal also offers advice and recommendations on how to act in concrete everyday situations.

Writing for the portal as guests columnists are TV presenters, actors, journalists, media experts and psychologists, including Bojana Gregorić, Marija Miholjek, Davor Meštrović, Tomislav Jelinčić, Maja Vučić, Ana Tkalac Verčić and the Ombudsman for Children Ivana Milas Klarić.
