Laško brings together four basketball legends in new regional campaign by Luna/TBWA

Laško brings together four basketball legends in new regional campaign

Yugoslavian basketball has always been synonymous with the best basketball in the world. And since Laško Brewery is the official sponsor of basketball associations of Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, it brought together the four basketball legends from these countries and their teams in a special regional campaign.

The remarkable Laško team are: the legend of Yugoslavia basketball coaching Bogdan Tanjević; the president of the professional council of the Croatian Basketball Association and a former center of numerous NBA teams Dino Rađa; chief selector of the Serbian basketball team and one of the best point-guards in Europe Aleksandar Đorđević; and the general secretary of the Slovenian Basketball Association and a former pro-player in Europe, USA and Slovenia Radoslav Nesterović.

The four basketball legends who left a big mark in the history of basketball are also four friends with a lot of history, memories and stories to tell. And just like Laško Brewery, they believe that character isn’t something we’re born with, rather it needs to be built.

In Laško regional campaign, created by Luna\TBWA they will reminisce about the times and the hard work they put into achieving such great success. And how much fun they had? Just like on the set of the TV ad.

Dino Rađa, one of the few people from Balkan accepted in the NBA hall of fame, was happy to work with Laško: “I love working on this project, it didn’t take much convincing. It’s a part of what we do to make the best possible tomorrow for our basketball stars. And it’s also a great opportunity to meet with old friends, that I’ve known for years and we really lived through a lot. These are the people I played against for many years.”

His former teammate from the Yugoslavian team, and a person with whom Rađa won numerous medals, Aleksandar Đorđević, was also very thrilled about the project: “I am extremely proud to be in the company of these basketball giants and friends, who wrote a big part of the European basketball story. I love spending time with them, and I am very happy that we could join business and pleasure. We had a lot of fun on the set, but we also did something great for our basketball associations. And it’s even better with good beer. I hope that even more people will choose Laško now.”

“We share a lot of great memories and I think we’re still very good friends. That’s why I’m happy that Laško brought us back together,” said Bogdan Tanjević, adding “In Sarajevo, where I lived, Laško was always known as the best Slovenian beer. And us, Bosnians always believe that if it’s from Slovenia, it’s better.”

The fourth legendary name of the Laško team is the general secretary of the Slovenian Basketball Association and a former pro-player in Europe, USA and Slovenia Radoslav Nesterović. He compared his basketball and acting skills: “It’s almost the same, instead of five, there’s four of us, but both are pretty fun. We’re used to most things on the court, but this is a new thing and a truly positive at that”. As for reuniting with his friends, he said: “During the season, we don’t get many chances to meet, that’s why I’m that much happier to see these guys.”

In the campaign, the four legends will become the main motivators for the young basketball players from the Balkan countries, who need to learn a lot more, get more experiences and build their character to be prepared for everything that’s ahead. Will the four legends succeed in getting them to be even better remains to be seen.

In the end, the legends will decide, if the players, with their hard work and strong character, deserve a Laško.
