Amid the “Children’s Week”, which promotes the rights of children and emphasizes the importance of child care, Konzum BiH visited the Parents’ Houses for children suffering from cancer in Sarajevo and Banja Luka. On that occasion, Konzum’s mascot Kodi surprised the children with an unforgettable experience, and gifts to make their stay in the houses more pleasant. Baskets full of fresh fruit and Lumpi products also pleased the parents, who thanked Konzum for this support.
In the Parents’ House in Sarajevo, which was opened in April this year, currently resides 6 families with children, coming from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina. Support through conversation, laughter, and embrace is one of the most important on their road to recovery.
Number of children in the Parents’ House in Banja Luka is fortunately much smaller than in Sarajevo. Two little heroes in the house have all the necessary care for quicker recovery. However, the support and attention are always welcome and are a good motivation for further fight.
“The house justifies its existence, so when we talk to parents we learn that they are happy and calm because they don’t have to worry about accommodation during treatment. Also, children are much happier because they get to spend less time in the hospital. Although a big step was made with the construction of the house, the question of its maintenance still remains. Konzum’s visit is commendable, and is an example for others on how important support is for the children and parents staying in the house,” said Jasna Vatreš, a social worker of the Association “Heart for children with cancer in FBiH”.
“Visit to children in Sarajevo and Banja Luka was very emotional and powerful for us. On the other hand, we are happy that with our small signs of attention we could bring smiles on their faces. We hope that these kids will soon leave these houses and go to their real homes, happy and healthy. Of course we will continue to support the work of these two institutions,” said Zvezdana Stojaković, PR manager of Konzum BiH.
