The most popular competition for young professionals in the communications industry – Young Lions Croatia, is officially open.
The winners of the competition will represent Croatia at the international competition in Cannes, where they will test their skills against colleagues from around the world.
The trip to Cannes – a prize worth roughly 45,000 HRK (about €6,000) awaits the best team in the competition.
Young talents of the advertising and PR industry have quickly recognized the importance of this competition, as evidenced by the fact that last year’s edition had a record number of entries – almost 60% more than in the previous year.
The Grand Prix winners in 2018 were Matko Buntić (Designer) and Fran Mubrin (Creative Director) from the 404 agency, and on occasion of this year’s contest they had a message for their young colleagues in Croatia:
“Young Lions is one of the most exciting experiences in our career. Going to Cannes is definitely the best part, but the whole competition is an excellent opportunity to acquire new knowledge that helps us solve challenges in our everyday work in an even better and more creative way. So, to everyone who are weighing whether to enter or not, we say: don’t think too much, because going to Cannes is something you will remember for a lifetime. Good luck and enjoy the competition!”
The fourth edition of the competition is the second one to be held in Zagreb, while the awards will be awarded in Rovinj at the Days of Communication that gathers the best projects from the local creative industries. Besides the opportunity for professional development, young people will also do good with their participation.
Namely, the task of the competition is actually to create communication solutions that will be given free of charge to a selected non-profit organization.
Independent professionals or agency employees can participate in a team of two people. Eligible are creatives up to 30 years of age, and they will have 24 hours to reach the final solution. The organizers say that with this contest and its rich prize they want to invest in the development of young Croatian professionals and thus encourage them to stay and work in Croatia.
That is why, unlike in previous years, this year winners in all categories will have a chance to go to Cannes – Design, Digital, Media, Print and PR.
Organizers traditionally sponsor the costs of travel, accommodation and entry fees for the Grand Prix winners at Cannes Lions 2019, while agencies will have the opportunity to finance the costs of sending their employees to Cannes if their team win the first place in certain categories.
Following the positive experience last year, the organizers of the Days of Communication decided to include the presentation of the competition’s finalists in the official festival program this year as well.
Teams can apply to the competition by March 10, 2019, using the form available at www.danikomunikacija.com.
