In a time when information circulates faster than ever, and its quality often remains questionable, media literacy is becoming a key skill for the future. One such project, Colorful Thoughts: Information in Pictures, implemented by Press Clipping in collaboration with the Ivana Glinška Maribor Kindergarten and the Maribor National Home, has been awarded the HORUS 2024 Award for Social Responsibility, presented by the Institute for the Development of Social Responsibility (IRDO).

This is a significant recognition, as the HORUS Award, presented by the Institute for the Development of Social Responsibility (IRDO), acknowledges projects that have not only a local but also a broader social impact. Through the Colorful Thoughts project, Press Clipping has once again proven that it is possible to combine innovation, social responsibility, and education in a way that fosters lasting change.

Media Literacy from an Early Age
The project Colorful Thoughts: Information in Pictures focuses on developing basic media literacy skills among the youngest generations. Its goal is to equip children and their families with the knowledge to identify and understand media content, critically evaluate it, and respond responsibly to the challenges of a modern world flooded with information. Through play, interactive activities, and partnerships with various collaborators, the project has reached a wide audience, relying on the values of collaboration and sustainability.

The HORUS Award evaluators described the project as exceptionally important for strengthening social responsibility:

“The project ‘Colorful Thoughts: Information in Pictures’ reinforces values in young children and their parents. It is an excellent project, very well-developed and described. All commendations for the further activities the company is undertaking, as media (il)literacy is of utmost importance for critical understanding of events in society and thereby strengthening each citizen’s responsibility.”

Boštjan Vilčnik (Director of Press Clipping), Patricia Koren Vilčnik (Marketing PC), Mihela Dušej (Head of Clipping Department), Gabrijela Cojzer (Marketing), Tatjana Novak (Director of Press Clipping and Infohub Maribor Institute)

Establishment of the Infohub Maribor Institute and Informative Booth
A significant milestone of the project was the establishment of the Infohub Maribor Institute, which began operations this year. The institute offers a variety of educational programs and workshops for different target groups – from young children to adults – and represents an important step towards expanding media literacy in Slovenia.

In addition, an informational booth was set up in Minicity Ljubljana, where children learn through play and practical examples how news is created, how the world of media functions, and why critical thinking is crucial in interpreting information. This space, designed as a blend of fun and education, has already become a favorite destination for curious young minds.

Responsibility for the Future of Media Literacy
For Press Clipping, the HORUS 2024 Award is not just recognition for past efforts but also a great responsibility for the future. As a company involved in analyzing media content, they are aware of the significance of responsible handling of information. Their work demonstrates that companies can significantly contribute to building a better and more aware society through socially responsible projects.

“Our vision remains clear – to raise awareness, educate, and inspire all generations for critical thinking and responsible handling of information,” emphasized Director Tatjana Novak upon receiving the award. She particularly highlighted the importance of collaboration with partners and the support of people who believe in their mission.
