On Thursday, February 7, 2019, at 20.00hrs, the exhibition of Marijo Aničić will be opened at the HDD Gallery, under the title Print without the black, extremely absorbent – Design for the Drugo more. The exhibition presents an overview of Aničić’s design work for the Drugo More Association in continuity from 2002 to 2015, including all the visual identities of the association and a series of major programs, to various printed promotional and communication media such as posters, brochures, flyers and program and other publications.
The first version of this exhibition was presented in the Filodrammatica Gallery in Rijeka in the fall of 2017, symbolizing the end of an extremely productive collaboration, but also concluding another interesting chapter of synergy between innovative and progressive independent cultural scene and graphic design.
In this sense, the exhibition is a kind of continuation of similar presentations of such collaborations, such as exhibitions dedicated to the Frakcija magazine (Frakcija 1996 – 2010 exhibition, by designer Igor Masnjak, Laboratorium and Cavarpayer, HDD Gallery 2010), design for the custodian association Kontejner (exhibition Container – Design of Contemporary Art Practice, Dejan Dragosavac Ruta, HDD Gallery 2009), or for the WHW Association (Exhibition for What, How and For Whom & So On – Design for Contemporary Art, Dejan Kršić, HDD Gallery 2015).
The Zagreb version of the exhibition is designed to give an insight into the visual identity of the Drugo More association and its various programs, listing as a separate entity the design for program contents of major projects such as Art & Clubbing, My, Your, Our; Mediterranean Games and Refleks.
For the purpose of better understanding of the context of the presented works, visitors will also have short texts explaining the character of the events for which they were designed, and a special segment of the exhibition will be devoted to the technological aspect of Aničić’s Design for the Drugo More, featured in the title itself: “Print without the black, extremely absorbent!”
