After extending the submission deadline for the most important digital award in the region until October 1st, the organizers of SoMo Borac have also announced three speakers who will share valuable practical advice at the full-day conference.
Hana Bartolović, a member of the Croatian Association of Digital Publishers (HUDI), is a journalist who, after 14 years in the media industry, became an entrepreneur and took the leap to establish the After5 portal. At SoMo Borac, she will deliver a talk titled How to Start a Portal in Croatia (in 10 Seemingly Easy Steps). A media expert who has dedicated her career to digital journalism, Bartolović will share her journey from idea to finished product—how to create and successfully launch a digital media outlet. Through 10 steps, she will explain the importance of defining a portal’s unique value, designing the user experience, what analytics can tell us, and why reinvesting in growth is crucial.
In the media stream, attendees will be able to listen to a talk titled Vertical Video: From Mistake to Rule, delivered by Dario Dalmacija, videographer (DD Video Lab). He entered the media world in 2011 and, over the course of his career, shifted to video production, launching a video department at Index and eventually starting his own business. In his talk, Dalmacija will explore how vertical video, once considered a filming error, has become the standard format in digital media. Through practical examples, the discussion will focus on its growing usage and impact on content production.
Naïve artist meets artist is the title of the talk to be given by Fran Mubrin, creative director and designer at the 404 agency, where he leads a multidisciplinary creative team of over 30 people. He is also a partner at the MYTY group, which brings together the best agencies in Europe. In over 12 years of his career, he has created award-winning work for both local and international clients, and in his presentation, he will share his experience using AI, questioning whether naïve art is ready to fully embrace a creative environment dominated by AI.
This year, SoMo Borac will hold its second full-day conference, with organizers preparing a host of interesting speakers to be announced soon. All updates about this year’s edition can be followed through the SoMo Borac newsletter, on the website, as well as on SoMo Borac’s Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages.
