Collegium Artisticum Sarajevo last night hosted numerous lovers of graphic design, admirers and friends of Goran Lizdek, who came to the opening of his first solo exhibition entitled “Exhibition of Posters”.
The exhibition represents a retrospective of selected works from the period 2007-2016, made in poster advertising. Most of this selection of works is thematically linked to cultural spheres – music, art, theater and film. The poster, as one of the most representative media of graphic design, in vocational and aesthetical sense, is set as the focus of the exhibition, and testifies to the author’s search for simultaneous meeting of the three basic segments of the poster media – communication, aesthetic value, and concise visual narrative.
Goran Lizdek was born in 1982 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. After graduating from High School of Applied Arts in the Department of advertising graphics, he continued his education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, Department of Graphic Design.
He started his career as a freelance graphic designer already during his student days, often collaborating with the Sarajevo advertising agency Fabrika. In 2007 he became a member of the creative team of the advertising agency Communis, at the position of art director, which he held until 2011 when he once again continued to work as a freelance artist. During this period, he created a series of prominent works which the local audience had a chance to see, including posters for the Jazz Fest Sarajevo and numerous posters for theater events. In 2014, he once again joined the advertising agency Communis, this time in the position of assistant creative director.
Since 2012, he became a regular member of the Association of Artists of Applied Arts of BiH (ULUPUBiH).
He has won numerous local and international awards for his work, the most noteworthy being:
2006 – Special award for the best poster, 2. Biennial of Student Poster, Novi Sad, Serbia
2007 – Special award “Art in Design”, 9. Magdalena festival, Maribor, Slovenia
2010 – Special award for the best poster, 5. No Limit advertising festival, Sarajevo, BiH
