The book Fragments of Design History – Documents Vol. 1 has just been published. Author and editor of the book is Marko Golub, and the book was published by Croatian Designers’ Association (HDD).
The book is conceived as a collection of texts, graphic and photographic materials and other documentation collected from 2009 to 2018 through a series of exhibitions and research dedicated to design heritage, important phenomena of history and contemporary Croatian design, individual design opus etc.
The book therefore has a dual role. On the one hand, it is a record of the first ten years of HDD Gallery activities, at least in one segment of its activities, and on the other hand it shows more comprehensively all the perspectives on the Croatian design that were highlighted by individual exhibition projects.
In this respect, this edition on 390 pages is the result of work of a whole range of authors, researchers and associates, who have devised and implemented a total of 36 exhibitions that are represented in the book (out of about 120 that have been realized in HDD Gallery space to date).
The book includes the following authors: Marko Golub, Dejan Kršić, Maroje Mrduljaš, Koraljka Vlajo, Alira Hrabar Oremović, Lana Cavar & Narcisa Vukojević, Goran Martin Štimac, Željko Luketić, Ivana Borovnjak, Vanja Brdar Mustapić, Darko Fritz, Ana Marija Habjan, Goran Ivanović, Antonio Karača, Bojan Krištofić, Zrinka Kuić, Igor Lah, Ivana Mance, Ivica Mitrović, Ana Radovanović, Sven Sorić, Lea Vene.
Since all the authors of the exhibitions and the research were not necessarily in the role of writers, it is key to highlight the authors such as Maša Poljanec, Maja Kolar, Oleg Šuran, Slavko Henigsman and a number of others without whose precious contribution many of the stories in this book would not have been told.
