Croatian national team player and Manchester City star Joško Gvardiol is the new face and ambassador of Ožujsko Beer. This significant collaboration between Croatia’s favorite beer and one of its top football players comes at a time when the national team, with Gvardiol, continues to achieve success on the European football stage.
Joško Gvardiol recently impressed the Croatian public once again with his pivotal goal in the match against Portugal, securing Croatia’s advancement to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Nations League. This goal brought back memories of his iconic strike in Qatar, which earned Croatia the bronze medal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup – the third in the history of the national team. In addition to his achievements with the national team, Gvardiol has been delivering outstanding performances at the club level, achieving notable successes with Manchester City.

“Žuja is a legendary Croatian beer. Over time, it has become a symbol of football, a loyal partner of our national team, and a favorite drink of our fans. There’s no football match without Žuja—whether in the stands, in front of the TV, or at public squares. I particularly love the loyalty, energy, and atmosphere that Žuja creates among fans and players alike. That’s why it’s an exceptional honor and pleasure for me to continue my football journey in partnership with Žuja,” said Joško Gvardiol during the signing of the contract with the beloved Croatian beer brand.
A Long-Standing Partnership with Croatian Football
For over 25 years, Zagrebačka Brewery and Ožujsko Beer have partnered with the Croatian Football Federation and the national team. This long-standing relationship, which began in 1998, represents the most enduring sports partnership in the region. Zagrebačka Brewery is especially excited about this new football collaboration.
“Joško Gvardiol embodies everything we value and believe in at Zagrebačka Brewery—dedication, passion, teamwork, and belief in success. His energy, perseverance, and sportsmanship reflect the values that Žuja has upheld for over 130 years. We look forward to this journey together and to all the victories ahead,” said Ana Štebih Pinjuh, Marketing Director of Zagrebačka Brewery.
For more than a century, Ožujsko Beer has been a part of moments that bring people together—from family gatherings to historic sports victories. The Croatian national team faces a new challenge in March when, according to last Friday’s UEFA Nations League draw, they will meet France in the quarterfinals. Žuja will once again stand by our national team and their fans.
