Effie Awards Europe, a competition that has recognised marketing campaigns based on their effectiveness and measurable business results since 1996, has announced the finalists for its 30th edition. The winners of Gold, Silver and Bronze awards, as well as the Grand Effie, will be announced on 3 December in Brussels, at a ceremony held as part of Effie Day.
The competition is organised by the European Association of Communications Agencies (EACA), and this year’s finalists include four projects from the region: two from Slovenia and one each from Croatia and Serbia. Three reached the final within the Best of Europe programme, while the fourth is competing in a special category dedicated to sustained effectiveness across multiple markets.
From Serbia, A Crumble of Patience, entered by agencies McCann Beograd and COMMUNIS for Bambi / Plazma, has reached the final. The project is shortlisted in Best of Europe: Crisis Response / Critical Pivot, a category recognising the effectiveness of responses to crisis situations or significant changes in business direction.
Croatia is represented by Home Is Closer Than You Think, a project by agency Cvoke for Kaufland Hrvatska, with OMD Zagreb as a contributing agency. It reached the final in Best of Europe: Product/Service Launch.
The Slovenian project Signs of Inclusion is a finalist in Best of Europe: Positive Change – Brand. The listed clients are Mastercard Slovenia and the Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing of Slovenia, with Povem as the lead agency. The second Slovenian finalist, 25 years of The Good Side Of Bread, was entered for Atlantic Grupa / Argeta and is the work of Luna \TBWA and Publicis Slovenia, with contributions from agencies Pro Media Group, Aragon and VALICON. The project is competing for Multi-Market: Decades of Sustained Success, dedicated to sustained effectiveness across multiple markets.
The regional projects are part of a shortlist featuring 132 finalists, of which 70 are in the Best of Europe programme, 31 in Multi-Market categories and 31 in special categories. Almost 350 professionals from 33 countries took part in selecting the finalists, with this year’s jury co-chaired by Julien Barraux, Chief Creative Officer at The Magnum Ice Cream Company, and Miriam Plon Sauer, Global Chief Strategy Officer at AKQA.
The awards ceremony will conclude Effie Day, which begins with Grand Effie judging and continues with a conference dedicated to marketing effectiveness. Announced participants include representatives of companies and agencies PepsiCo, Google, Heineken, LePub, Škoda Auto, AMV BBDO and Kantar, with cyclist Chris Froome announced as a special guest.
