Do employees of public administration and public companies communicate proactively, clearly and equally to everyone? Do decision-makers follow the innovations that are happening in their environment? Are strategic goals being implemented in the field of digital communication? Are there educational channels and trained individuals in the implementation system? How much are they visible and available to the public? Where are they and what should they change to be even better and closer to people as a truly informative and operational public service?
All these are just some of the issues that will be discussed at an international conference on innovation and communication in public administration and public companies, under to motto closer to people, called FOCUS.
“The general public has the wrong perception of the public administration system. There are highly qualified individuals, communication specialists who, thanks to their superiors who understand the importance and the role of communication, succeed in implementing and upgrading the strategy in accordance with the ever-present changes that demand transformation. Unfortunately, these examples are in the minority, but the perception and implementation standards in the region are not at the same level. Our wish is to bring together employees in public administration and public companies, those who are dealing with communication and decision makers, to communicate with each other and to open issues of internal communication and standards in public administration, digital communication, communication strategies, weaknesses and opportunities for more effective communication, and reducing the negative image that the public administration has among the majority of the general public. The epithets which the public administration often faces are: ineffective, bureaucratic, non-transparent, corrupt and others, which we cannot generalize,” said Danijel Koletić, initiator of this conference.
“We also want to talk about innovations and hear successful stories from the region as well as some European countries. The purpose of this conference is to create a platform that will open up many issues, connect people from public administration and give them a new vision of a communication strategy that they will create on their own, through discussion, program content and workshops. Unfortunately, numerous public administration employees and public companies do not realize that they are not here because of the party affiliation or for themselves, but for citizens,” Koletić said and added that procedures need to be changed “through simple, understandable and a bit aggressive communication strategy.”
“In order to achieve this, apart from interpersonal communication, education is also needed. That’s why we are setting up FOCUS. This conference should link the public and private sectors because one cannot do without the other. The public sector has to understand the arrival of a new way of communicating in the digital age, but still due to the demographic structure in numbers, we must not forget about the classic communication channels. FOCUS, as a communication platform in the form of a conference, represents innovation in the areas of South East Europe,” added Koletić.
This conference is organized by the Apriori World agency. Preparation of the program content is in progress, and dates and venue will be announced at the beginning of September.
