Many of the speakers at Days of Communication have long been announced, and yesterday the entire program of the festival was presented. The organizers have unveiled yet another intriguing speaker: this advertising festival will host AdBlock!?! On behalf of the AdBlock system, the primary purpose of which is to block ads, audience at the Festival will be addressed by Laura Sophie Dornheim, head of the communication department at eyeo, whose products include AdBlock Plus, AdBlock Browser and Flattr.
While presenting the program, the chairman of the Board of Directors of HURA Davor Bruketa emphasized that “Days of Communication is a Festival which presents world practices from the communication industry. Certainly, we bring lecturers who speak about the best global practices, but at the same time we enable visitors to discuss with individuals whose work we are questioning, but we can’t ignore the fact that their work affects the direction in which the industry is developing, as well as its perception in the wider public.”
Director of Days of Communication and Director of the Festival Program, Dunja Ivan Ballon, added: “We are bringing big names this year and pushing the boundaries. The Days of Communication will host the head of campaign for the US president, a global creative director of one of the leading social networks – Twitter, and a representative of a company which works on blocking ads, while promoting the so-called Acceptable Ads Initiative. Participants of the Festival can expect interactive content, and we are also introducing a new format of debates on which we will continue to ask questions and open discussions. The quality of the overall program and the praise of the participants so far is also backed by the fact that, with the number of registered applicants so far, we have already long exceeded the total number of last year’s participants.”
Along with the arrival of AdBlock’s rep, organizers also announced Kodi Foster, SVP of Data Strategy at world’s sixth largest media conglomerate, Viacom. Viacom employs nearly ten thousand people and owns the production house Paramount Pictures (Titanic, Iron Man and Forrest Gump among others) and popular channels like MTV and Comedy Central. Kodi deals with the synthesis of Viacom’s data and their transformation into content and integrated marketing communication, which will be his topic for the Days of Communication.
Days of Communication will take place from 12 to 15 April in Rovinj. Over the three festival days, the program will be held in parallel in three halls. Along with 16 top lecturers who will speak in the main hall, participants will have the opportunity to hear other content as well, including the presentation of Effie finalists, as well as the finalists of the Young Lions Croatia contest. Good practices and discussions in which all festival visitors can participate, such as the PPP (beer after the program), will continue this year, but will have a new format – debates.
Speakers who have been announced earlier, who will speak in the main hall are: Jayanta Jenkins, Global Creative Director of Twitter, Brad Parscale, campaign director for Donald J. Trump, Susan Credle, one of the most powerful women in the marketing industry, Mr. Bingo, top illustrator and architect of controversial projects, Graham Fink, one of the most award-winning creative directors in the world and a multimedia artist who draws with his eyes.
