In its new iPhone 17 Pro ad, created by TBWA\Media Arts Lab, the brand uses a metaphorical approach to highlight the phone’s upgraded cooling system. Instead of showcasing processing power or technical specs, the spot follows an overheated runner who represents a phone pushed to its limits. Directed by Andreas Nilsson, the film underscores a simple message: better heat management leads to better performance, while the campaign will appear across both broadcast and digital platforms.

In the ad, a runner pushes through a scorching desert until a sudden splash of cool water falls from above. Reenergized, he snaps into an effortless, unstoppable pace, tackling multiple tasks as he charges ahead. His renewed drive serves as a metaphor for Apple’s upgraded vapor chamber, which is designed to pull heat away from the processor so intensive apps and games can run longer without losing speed.

The ad tries to turn complex engineering into something viewers can intuitively grasp, presenting thermal control not as a technical detail but as a defining personality trait. It also hints at Apple’s wider goals for stronger battery life and consistent performance, all wrapped in the narrative of a runner finding his second wind.
