The conference “Digitization of the Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina” will be held from 18 to 20 March in Sarajevo, organized by the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH and the company GlobalGPS BH d.o.o.
The aim is to introduce digitization as a driver of the development of the local economy and creating a better environment for investments, especially in new high technology projects.
“We decided to organize a conference in the year in which we celebrate 15 years since adopting the first policy of information society development in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and 25 years since the Internet came here, and the opening of the .ba domain. This is an ideal opportunity for our country to finally start the digitization process, adopt and apply best practices and international standards for economic development in the context of EU membership. Digitization has many advantages for the entire BiH society, and the greatest potential is attracting foreign investment and creating new jobs,” said Haris Hadžialic, Managing Director of GlobalGPS BH d.o.o.
The three-day conference will include local, regional and international experts, who will contribute by sharing experiences and creating the preconditions for realizing the idea of digitisation of the society as a whole.
“By introducing digitization, Bosnia and Herzegovina would be able to employ between 5,000 and 6,000 young people and prevent their departure from the country, which is one of today’s burning issues. It is therefore crucial that decision-makers and authorities recognize the need to initiate the digitization process in Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of the important factors of this process is attracting foreign investment and increasing the digital competitiveness of BiH exporters,” said Vjekoslav Vuković, vice president of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH.
