Everyone knows that the happiest people are those who never stop playing. But there is an aspect of playing that many don’t realize – play is always a learning opportunity and the best atmosphere to foster creation of ideas.
Play is something that is in the core of the new service that VALICON has introduced into its work, in the form of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method, which has been used by many global brands, and is now successfully applied in our region as well.
On Wednesday, we were invited to join many VALICON’s partners at their business breakfast, where we had the opportunity to hear a presentation of the concept which is deceptively simple, yet highly complex and serious. Based on psychological research and the legendary LEGO bricks – which we all associate with some of our fondest childhood memories – this method of moderated workshops facilitates communication and problem-solving process through stimulation of creativity in all participants.
What makes this “play” serious is its structured nature in which the goals are clearly set from the start. For example, used in decision making on branding, this approach activates more senses and brain centers in all participants, and gives the opportunity to all stakeholders to unlock the creative parts of themselves they did not even know existed, and through playing define the metaphors that effectively create the identity of a brand.
LEGO bricks this become the catalyst for the business process and greatly accelerate overall decision-making and defining of goals, but they also strengthen relationships in teams that through joint work give their contribution and build a new form of communication and understanding.
