There are few beefs in the business world as famous as that between BMW and Mercedes, especially in the automotive industry, and nothing illustrates this better than BMW’s latest cheeky move amid the retirement of Mercedes-Benz’s longtime CEO, Dieter Zetsche.
On the day of Zetsche’s retirement, BMW launched a video dedicated to their longtime rival, which at the same time pays respects and congratulates him on the retirement, but also takes a swing at the company he leaves behind with a message „Retirement is when you can leave your past behind, and embrace your future“, showing Zetsche in a BMW i8 roadster.
Mercedes-Benz was galant in their response, but they as well slipped some marketing with a twitter message boasting their EQ electric models that are a direct competitor to BMW’s i models.
Thanks @BMW for the kind suggestion – but we’re 100% sure he already decided to #switchtoEQ ? https://t.co/M6lYL1dmR2
