On International Women’s Day, March 8, 2025, from 10:00 to 10:30, more than 230 Bingo stores across Bosnia and Herzegovina will temporarily pause operations. Alongside them, Dita, Pivara Tuzla, Ingram, Kaletex, Duka, the pasta factory, the paper factory, Bingo Farm, and all other production companies operating within the Bingo Group, employing over 9,000 workers, will also halt their activities.
Women are the backbone of Bosnian society and the foundation of Bingo Group, with more than 6,000 women among its employees. Through this initiative, the company is taking a more active role in supporting women who are victims of violence and is announcing a long-term strategic commitment to ensuring their safety and financial stability.
Bingo’s support is not just symbolic.
Bingo Group has secured 1,000,000 KM in tangible financial aid. This funding will help sustain existing safe houses and support brave women who have taken the first step and reported violence. Furthermore, to empower them toward financial independence, which is crucial for their future, Bingo Group, as the largest employer, commits to prioritizing the employment of women who have survived violence.
While Bingo Group pauses, it calls on all citizens to take a stand as well and support two initiatives: the inclusion of femicide in the Criminal Code of the Federation of BiH and the adoption of a new Law on Protection Against Domestic Violence in Republika Srpska. These initiatives have been launched by associations such as “Glas žene” Bihać, “Tim volim život” Cazin, “Izvor” Sanski Most, “Ženska vizija” Tuzla, “Inicijativa građanki/na Mostar” for the Federation of BiH, “Udružene žene” Banja Luka, “Budućnost” Modriča, and the “Lara” Foundation Bijeljina for Republika Srpska. Over 9,000 Bingo Group employees will sign these petitions. Citizens can also join the cause and sign the petitions in all Bingo stores across Bosnia and Herzegovina or online on March 8.
At the company level, Bingo is developing a support program for victims of violence, allowing employees to report abuse anonymously and access appropriate assistance if needed. These procedures will be publicly shared to encourage other companies to implement similar systems.
Bingo Group urges employers to support these initiatives and has announced that, until March 8, 2025, all of the company’s media space—normally used for advertising and promotions—will be dedicated to spreading one key message: It’s Time to Pause and Stop Violence!
Over 10,000 Citizens Join Bingo Group’s Campaign Against Violence in Just 24 Hours
In the past 24 hours, more than 10,000 citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina have briefly paused to show support for the initiative to include femicide in the Criminal Code of the Federation of BiH and to adopt a new Law on Protection Against Domestic Violence in Republika Srpska.
This may be the largest campaign against violence against women in the country’s history, led by Bingo Group, which has also pledged 1,000,000 KM in material support. These funds will help finance safe houses and provide assistance to brave women who have taken the first step in reporting violence.
