Biljana Cerin, director of the Croatian company Ostendo Consulting, an expert and entrepreneur specializing in systematic risk management of cyber security and compliance with regulatory requirements, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the world’s largest information security organization.
Four international experts join the highest governing body of the ISC, and along with the three US nationals, one is from Croatia. The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC), headquartered in Washington, is a nonprofit, largest information security organization with 125,000 professionals.
“For me, it is a great professional acknowledgment and I am glad that members have recognized my work so far and that I can make a direct personal contribution to the efforts the organization invests in the development of information security specialists,” said Biljana Cerin and clarified that the purpose of the Organization is setting standards of knowledge that information security specialists should have.
“The biggest information risk today is always us. If we do not understand the reasons for applying organizational or technological information security measures, and if we do not recognize the risks in our daily business environment, despite all the technology and rules, we are the weak link that is easy to abuse. There’s a lack of people who want to deal with this industry, there are strict regulatory requirements, and insufficient cooperation with other professions – so my focus is on involving as many young people as possible in this industry and bringing information security closer to other professions to build a more secure world,” said Biljana Cerin.
