Applications for the major regional creativity competition, BalCannes, closed on January 30, and this year, regional creatives have been exceptionally productive – over 200 projects have been submitted for this new edition of the competition, surpassing all previous records!
More than half of the entries have been submitted in the Market Mosaic category, while the Positive Change Mosaic category accounts for nearly 23% of submissions, once again confirming the region’s recognition of the importance of communicating ethical messages and their impact on societal progress. In terms of the number of entries, Croatia (33%) and Serbia (28.4%) lead the way this year, followed by Slovenia (19.1%), North Macedonia (11.8%), and Bosnia and Herzegovina (7.4%).
BalCannes is not just a competition for creativity and the successful execution of innovative ideas; it is also an opportunity to get a comprehensive overview of the work being done across Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Slovenia, and Serbia. The most crucial role in this segment of the competition belongs to the BalCannes jury members, who are responsible for evaluating and selecting the finalists. These finalists will have the chance to win prestigious awards during Dani komunikacija (Days of Communication). The best projects will also be featured in the latest edition of the BalCannes Report, which will be published after the winners are announced.

A special tribute will be paid to the top projects at the award ceremony during the new edition of Dani komunikacija, taking place from May 15 to 18, 2025, in Rovinj. Notably, for three nights, the main hall of Dani komunikacija will be replaced by the glamorous THE OTHER BEACH Stage, and if weather conditions allow, the awards ceremony will, for the first time in Rovinj, be held under the stars, accompanied by the scent of the sea and a gentle coastal breeze.
