Since it was launched two weeks ago, the educational program of IAA Serbia, AcademIAA, has stirred great interest among the professional public in Serbia. Until Saturday, 20 July, anyone who is interested can apply and take advantage of the Early Bird offer. Here, the organizers of the program explain the details and answer the most frequently asked questions regarding the program.
Jelena Ivanović, Executive Director, IAA Serbian Chapter:
AcademIAA is…
a program that will provide its students with meaningful answers to a large number of questions in the field of marketing, regardless of whether they are students/graduates of various universities, employees in different areas of the profession, or people with either extensive or little experience. AcademIAA’s list of lecturers is its most important reference as it contains the names of over 70 eminent professionals from various fields who will speak about their experiences, business case studies and practical examples. The selected speakers and the topics on the schedule are such that the program really provides a comprehensive insight into marketing.
We wouldn’t be us…
AcademIAA has a local character. It was designed by IAA Serbia, in consultation with a number of Chapters that have been organizing educational programs for years. However, it is important to emphasize that AcademIAA surpasses other, similar activities of other associations, in the scope of its program, the number of lecturers, and its duration and intensity.
Andreja Milkić, Account Director, Leo Burnett and member of IAA Serbia:
A chance for young colleagues…
The professional public in Serbia has reacted positively to the launch of this project, and this is understandable as they all need quality staff. Senior professionals – members of the IAA – quickly recognized the opportunity to provide their younger counterparts with quality training for a relatively small amount of money. However, it is important to point out that AcademIAA – although a project of IAA – is not intended exclusively for the membership of the Association, but for the whole market. Young professionals should be expected to inform their seniors about this program, who will undoubtedly recognize its importance and allow their younger colleagues to attend.
P.S. On a number of occasions I’ve heard senior colleagues say they would gladly listen to all the lectures of AcademIAA. This is serious advice for their younger colleagues!
Nevena Mijić, Account Executive, Fullhouse Ogilvy, IAA Young Professional
Who is that someone?
There are no demographic restrictions, but a basic knowledge of marketing communications is necessary. It would not make much sense for someone who has never had anything to do with the profession to sign up. For everyone else there are no obstacles to applying, regardless of the amount of their professional experience. If they want to invest in their further development, AcademIAA is the right place for them.
A certain winner…
AcademIAA is designed as an intensive and effective training program, which is why, among other things, it is necessary to limit the number of participants. Interest in the program is great, despite the fact that this is its first year.
Therefore the selection of candidates is planned in two steps:
- Sending a CV and motivation letter,
- Solving an online test (designed so that it poses certain situations through which the candidate’s level of knowledge, mindset, talent and innovativeness can be determined.)
The IAA commission will carefully review the material received and single out the 30 successful applicants for this year.

Money, money…
AcademIAA runs from 2 September to 10 December. It takes place on Friday afternoon (18.00-21.00) and on Saturdays during the day (10.00-17.00).
Early Bird registration fees are available until July 20 (the price ranges from 400 to 500 euros, depending on whether the candidate applies as a student, a member of the IAA Young Professionals section etc.). This will be followed by another application period up until 5th of August, when the price of the program will be 500-600 euros for the different categories of candidates. It is possible to pay in four installments, so that the financial aspect is not an obstacle for most interested participants.
Black on white…
This type of education has not been organized in Serbia in recent years and it’s important that in addition to setting high standards regarding the program and the profile of the speakers, it’s also highly necessary that, by attending AcademIAA, the participants really acquire the knowledge and skills that IAA Serbia will guarantee in some form. Students who complete 80% of the content of the program and prepare final presentations on specific topics, which they will present to the members of the commission, will receive a certificate as a recommendation of the IAA.
