From 2009 to 2015, the number of ad blocker users in the world increased from 21 to 198 million. Invespcro.com estimates that in 2015 alone, this practice cost publishers 22 billion US dollars, about 20 billion euros.
Ad blocking software is most commonly used by men (65%) and people aged between 18 and 34 (41%), followed by those between 35 and 54 (36%) and older than 55 years (23%). As many as 51 percent of ad blocker users have been blocking ads for more than three years.
The most common reason for blocking internet ads is that they are annoying (35%), 27% block ads because they do not like them, and 6 percent of them claim that there are too many ads.
The largest proportion of ad blocker users are in France (27% of the population), Germany (24%), Canada (16%) and the Netherlands (14%).
