The 28th Slovenian Advertising Festival (SOF), with the slogan “I am media, you are media, we are all media!” will take place between 11th and 12th April at the Kempinski Palace hotel in Portorož.
SOF, in collaboration with Mastercard®, promises “a priceless experience” at this year’s first cashless festival. Mastercard® will transform the festival grounds into a cash-free payment zone and offer attendants numerous innovative, adrenaline fuelled, refreshing and creative offers and experiences.
The two-day festival event will be marked by a renewed competition program, a rich congress program and a lively social program. The competition program will be open until 5th of March and the Young Creatives competition will be accepting applications until 25th of March.
More than 40 speakers form Slovenia, US, the Netherlands, Serbia, Spain and Great Britain will share their stories, knowledge, ideas and experiences during the two-day festival.
In accordance with this year’s slogan the congress program will offer more space for media-oriented content, such as the round table ‘Borders and responsibilities of active use of social and traditional media’, hosted by Peter Frankl from Finance.
SOF website (in Slovene only) offers the first preliminary program schedule, where new speakers and topics with other exciting content are announced daily.
The rich preliminary congress program will feature lectures such as Radio – taking f*** around seriously, in which Denis Avdić and Nik Goodman will discuss what a serious business entertainment is, then The Cult of Extreme Innovation with Mark Adams, Vice president and Head of Innovations at VICE Media, who will introduce a dramatic and powerful system that takes innovation thinking into an entirely new level, as well as a lecture by David Carson, the most searched graphic designer on Google, and a man who according to AIGA transformed graphic design into a cultural force and a medium with its own shape and direction.

Part of the SOF is also the Young Creatives Competition 2019, which is currently open for applications.
Bold and creative, younger than 30 years (born after 22. June 1988) have time until 25. March or until the spots are filled, to seize the opportunity and showcase their talent at the now already traditional Young Creatives Competition.
The whole problem-solving process will be taking place during the festival, at the festival location, where registered contesters will have 24 hours to answer the brief and present an integrated concept of a digital campaign, showcasing the power of digital technologies. Top contesters will be presenting their solutions on stage in front of the jury and audience.
The winning pair will travel to the Cannes Lions 2019 to compete with peers from all over the world in the “Young Lions Digital Competition”.
The client and contractor of the competition, the Slovenian Advertising Chamber together with its partner NLB will be covering the winner’s entry fees for the competition in Cannes.
The winning pair will be announced at the Golden night, the final award ceremony event on 12th of April 2019.
The Golden night will also reveal the recipients of the prestigious silver, gold and the big SOF awards in the competition sections WHAT and WHY.
The evening highlight will be the announcement of the Brand of 2019, the Agency of 2019 and the new SOF of SOF award.
Entry deadline for projects for the SOF awards is March 5, 2019.
