LANA CAVAR DESIGNS PUBLICATION FOR “ITEMS: IS FASHION MODERN?” EXHIBITION IN MoMA NEW YORK
The exhibition „ITEMS: Is Fashion Modern?“ by the world famous design and architecture curator Paola Antonelli and Michelle Millar Fisher will open on 1 October at the New York Museum of Modern Art (MoMa NY).
The concept and design of the accompanying publication for this first MoMA exhibition about fashion in the past 50 years was done by Zagreb designer Lana Cavar, in tandem with her US colleague Natasha Chandani. The illustrations for the catalog were designed by Narcisa Vukojević.
Cavar and Chandani were personally invited by the curators Antonella and Millar Fisher, impressed by their already famous book “Thanks for the View, Mr Mies” (2012). Designers, together with curators, created the publication of the exhibition ITEMS: Is Fashion Modern? as a kind of encyclopaedia of 111 clothing items that marked the way we dress today. Little black dress, leather jacket, Levis jeans, famous “God Save the Queen” T-shirt of Vivienne Westowood, Jamie Reid and Malcolm McLaren from 1977 – are some of the items through which the exhibition examines fashion from the phenomenological point of view.
