NATIONWIDE PICKS OGILVY & MATHER NY AS ITS NEW CREATIVE AGENCY OF RECORD
Insurance giant Nationwide has named WPP’s Ogilvy & Mather New York as their new creative agency of record. The decision came without revision, and after the end of company’s seven-year relations with McKinney. Nationwide and Ogilvy actually collaborated in the past, and Ogilvy this helped in the creation of company’s original “Nationwide is on your side” slogan 50 years ago.
NIKE DEBUTS SELF-LACING SHOE
Nike introduced a revolutionary new lacing system at a New York City event, Nike’s HyperAdapt 1.0, which features an adaptive lacing solution, taking its cues from digital, electrical and mechanical engineering. The self-lacing concept was famously included in 1989’s Back to the Future. Michael J. Fox, who starred as Marty McFly in the film, tried a pair of Nike Mag with the self-lacing system last year. Company will continue to develop the system as it has a huge potential for athletes, promising tailored-to-the-moment custom fit to enhance performance.
APPLE’S COFOUNDER STEVE WOZNIAK CRITICAL OF THE APPLE WATCH
Apple’s cofounder Steve Vozniak has expressed doubts about the company’s recent pivot into jewelry with the launch of the Apple Watch. Wozniak admitted that the company has strayed far from its roots chiefly as a tech company. When asked: “What is Tim Cook doing right/wrong, in your opinion?” he responded that Steve Job’s successor is “continuing a strong tradition that Steve Jobs was known for of making good products that help people do things they want to do in their life”, but added he is still a bit worried. “I mean I love my Apple Watch, but – it’s taken us into a jewellery market where you’re going to buy a watch between $500 or $1100 based on how important you think you are as a person. The only difference is the band in all those watches,“ he said. On the whole however, he concluded: “I love the software, and I love the hardware, and nothing’s letting me down. So I approve very strongly of Tim Cook and the new Apple. I dearly miss Steve Jobs too, but, that’s all.”
