Members of the Advertising Court are three other representatives of the advertising industry: Andreja Zadnik Andoljšek, director of marketing communications at Mercator, Roman Berčon, Director of Votan Komunikacije, and Aleksandra Kregar Brus, director of corporate strategy at Atlantic Group; and representatives of other, independent social groups, Gordana Petek Ivandič, retiree and advisor, and Aleksandra Pisnik from the University of Maribor.
Commenting on her appointment, Milena Fornazarič pointed out: “This advertising court in this term will commit to contribute to the promotion of professional, ethical and moral standards in the Slovenian advertising industry, in accordance with the provisions and standards of the Slovenian Advertising Code. The increasing number of applications each year, that are increasingly complex and demanding, means that all the interested stakeholders, including consumers, are aware of the importance of advertising and its self-regulation. At the beginning of the new mandate, we see another encouraging trend: More and more requests for an opinion or evaluation, before the publishing of an ad, particularly from prominent advertisers who are aware of the importance of such opinions because these opinions can relieve them from possible problems in the market later on. In January this year, agencies and advertisers have requested more such opinions than during the entire last year. The Court thus deservedly gains in reputation, vocational and moral force of an independent, self-regulatory institution.”
HUOJ SENDS RECOMMENDATIONS TO CROATIAN GOVERNMENT ON THE STATUS OF PUBLIC RELATIONS IN STATE ADMINISTRATION
Croatian Public Relations Association (HUOJ), as a national professional organization, sent a letter Recommendations on the Status of Public Relations in State Administration to the Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Administration Ivan Kovačić.
In the recommendations to the Government, with the aim of ensuring quality development of public relations in the state administration, HUOJ has stressed the importance of maintaining professionalism and independence of PR experts, and the fact that their primary job is communicating the activities and programs of ministries and public policies, not personal promotion of Ministers or officials.
HUOJ encourages the Government to ensure in each ministry at least one expert employee, whose sole and major task would be communication of work and results of the office towards external audiences on a daily basis.
HUOJ in the document also warns that it is necessary to legally regulate the issue of conflict of interest of politically appointed individuals to positions of special advisors to the Prime Minister or Ministers (so called pro bono engagements), which are still not covered, nor regulated by any law or regulation on the prevention of conflicts of interest.
