If you have always wanted to find out what makes an excellent MIXX project and how to apply it best, join the lecture on Tuesday, 12 December, from 18:00 to 19:00 hours, in coworking space HUB385 (Petračićeva 4, Zagreb).

HURA and IAB Croatia are organizing the educational lecture where interested participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the MIXX competition that is held every year as part of the national advertising festival Days of Communication.

Lecturers are Martina Jelić, Account Planning Director at McCann Zagreb and Domagoj Davidović, CEO of Švicarska agency. During a one-hour lecture, participants will have the opportunity to hear helpful advice on choosing the right category and how to write a great entry. Additionally, they will analyze competition rules, evaluation criteria, and will clarify what actually means a good case study video.

Workshop tickets can be purchased through the Entrio system.

Apple has reportedly been close to acquiring the music recognition service, Shazam with a formal announcement coming as early as Monday.

According to an anoymous source to TechCrunch, the deal is reportedly worth around $400m, far less than the valuation of more than $1bn Shazam announced after its most recent round of funding in 2015.

Shazam had already maintained a long-standing relationship with Apple—in 2008, it was one of the first apps to be featured on Apple’s App Store. Shazam allowed users to click through to iTunes to purchase, and it’s features had also been integrated with Apple’s Siri voice assistant.

With sexual harassment becoming a regular topic in the news these days, Facebook sought to publicly share its policies on the matter.

Chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg and vice president of people Lori Goler shared the six basic principles behind the company’s policies on harassment, which you can read in this Newsroom post.

WHATSAPP EXPECTED TO ROLL OUT STANDALONE BUSINESS APP

WhatsApp is reportedly set to roll out a standalone business app to help the businesses communicate with its customers.

Through its FAQ ‘Chatting with businesses’ section of the page, the platform has explained that there will be three different business accounts. The first account will be the verified one which will carry a green checkmark badge in its profile.

The second will be a confirmed account so that the phone number of this account matches the phone number for the business and will have a gray checkmark badge in its profile. Third is the business account, although that still hasn’t been officially confirmed nor verified by WhatsApp. A business account has a gray question mark badge in its profile.

As reported by Business Today, WhatsApp has also added tools for users to control this experience, and to block business accounts and report them as spam at any time, within the chat itself.

WhatsApp earlier launched a pilot that lets businesses communicate with the messaging service’s one billion daily users, with reports suggesting it will launch a dedicated app for small-to-medium businesses (SMB).

Twitter’s new 280-character limit has gained more engagement than the previous 140-character limit claims data site SocialFlow.

As reported by Madison.com, the findings of SocialFlow told via BuzzFeed News echoes the finding of Twitter’s own report which stated that tweets over 140 character gained more engagement and followers.

The average retweet and likes of 140 character was 13.71 and 26.52 while of 140 and above was 29.96 and 50.28 respectively.

Meanwhile, Jessica Verrilli, Twitter’s vice president of corporate development and strategy tweeted that she will depart from the company after almost nine years.

NIKE NAMES LAUREN SHERMAN AS NEW DIGITAL MARKETING CHIEF

Nike has appointed Lauren Sherman as its senior director of digital, based in New York.

The former head of marketing for brand growth business Red Antler has taken up the new role this week. She will lead the digital marketing for the sports apparel brand across its online presence such as Nike.com, its app, its running and training clubs and SNKRS as well.

Sherman had spent over a year at Red Antler in Brooklyn and was responsible for leading marketing efforts for brands such as Casper, Diageo, Brandless and Birchbox in addition to acting as chief marketing officer for pre-launch direct-to-consumer clients, helping them with strategic needs.

Announcing the move on her Instagram feed, Sherman said: “I’m thrilled to be part of this iconic organization and to be doing work that promotes sport and supports athletes.”
