DIRECT MEDIA IS FORMING DATA SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
Following the trends in the development of the marketing and communications industry, and eyeing innovative projects and services that are created through use and interpretation of vast amounts of data, regional communications agency Direct Media is forming the Data Science Division.
The department will deal with analysis of advertising data, the creation of new data analysis services, the creation of new platforms needed to better understand and communicate with consumers.
The work of the newly formed organizational unit will be rooted in the mission of the system, which reads: “In the world of constantly changing communications, we find the optimal solutions always anew, and move the boundaries of excellence to the benefit of industry and society as a whole. We contribute to the growth of our partners’ business.”
In the light of the formation of the Data Science Division, Direct Media has issued a vacancy ad, seeking Data Analysts and Data Scientists, which runs until November 20th.

HUOJ: “JOURNALISTS AND PR-S” LECTURE
The corporate section of the Croatian Association of Public Relations invites the members to the lecture “Journalists and PR-s” which will be held on Monday, 5 November at 17.00hrs in the premises of HUOJ, Ilica 5.
What are the differences in the expectations of journalists and public relations experts, what is the meaning and goal of media relations, how to work together and improve media relations in a quality and efficient way. These issues will be discussed by prof. Renata Potočnik, Executive Director of the Public Relations Department at Millenium promocija.
The lecture is intended for experienced public relations and marketing communications managers in the private and business sectors, younger colleagues and students.

€350.000 FOR SOCAL BUSINESSES OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
The Mozaik Foundation from Bosnia and Herzegovina this month launched a campaign to register or start a social business, with the largest annual investment fund for young people and their ideas so far – in the amount of €350,000.
The investments are intended for all young people aged 18 to 35 from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who need serious investment and mentoring support. They can apply for funds if they have a mature, tested idea for a social business, but they haven’t yet realized the first sale or have realized it but need investment for registration of a company.

WARC AWARDS 2019 OPEN FOR ENTRIES
The WARC Awards 2019, an annual international case-study competition in search of the smartest campaigns that best use emerging marketing disciplines, is now open for entries.
Organised by WARC, the global authority on advertising and media effectiveness, the WARC Awards are free to enter and are open to submissions from any country and communications discipline. Work can be entered into four categories, each one with its own high-calibre judging panel and set of Special Awards.

ADFEST REVAMPS ITS SPECIAL AWARDS
ADFEST has revamped its Special Award categories by adding Media Agency of the Year and adjusting how Special Awards are scored. There are now seven Special Award categories: Network of the Year, Agency of the Year, Independent Agency of the Year, Digital Agency of the Year, Production Company of the Year, Advertiser of the Year and Media Agency of the Year.
The Grande for Humanity is a special Grande award, which is judged by all Jury Presidents and recognizes excellence in corporate social responsibility or public service and cause appeals. The winner is chosen from Gold and INNOVA Lotus winners.
The deadline for categories that will be judged remotely is Friday 11th January 2019, the deadline for all other categories is Friday 18th January 2019.

MAJOR BRANDS VOW TO FIGHT PLASTIC POLLUTION
Brands representing 20% of the plastic packaging produced globally are among signatories to a new United Nations commitment to eradicate plastic waste and pollution.
The New Plastics Economy Global Commitment is led by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, in collaboration with UN Environment, and is backed by 250 organisations and brands.
Brand signatories include well-known businesses such as Danone, H&M group, L’Oréal, Mars Inc., PepsiCo, The Coca-Cola Company, and Unilever.
Major packaging producers, such as Amcor, plastics producers including Novamont, and resource management specialist Veolia, have also signed up.
Three of the brands – Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and Nestle – were last year named the worst plastic polluters in the world in an index produced by the Break Free From Plastic movement.
