TWITTER TO LAYOFF 9% OF WORKFORCE
Twitter stunned with the news of significant layoffs, amounting to 9% of the total workforce, but also reported better-than-expected revenue in the third quarter. Twitter reported that it has generated revenue of $616 million, beating somewhat lower expectations of analysts.
Twitter has also announced that the number of monthly active users increased from 313 million in the previous quarter to 317 million, while analysts expected 316.3 million active users. The company is, however, under great pressure to attract new users, in light of strong growth of competitors like Instagram and Snapchat.
In a surprising move, Twitter has also shut down Vine, four years after purchasing it for $30 million.

GOOGLE JUST INTRODUCED JAMBOARDS INTO OFFICE CULTURE
Google is inviting companies to get on the waiting list for its latest in-office tool called the Jamboard. It’s a digital whiteboard that could make workers long for the days when PowerPoint presentations were all they had to worry about.
Google’s new tech toy does look slick. It has a 55-inch, 4K resolution screen that syncs with Google’s G-Suite office products, and it connects to the internet to share with remote offices.
Google said the Jamboard has only been available to select early partners like Spotify and Netflix. The board costs less than $6,000, which makes it cheaper than Microsoft’s Surface Hub at $9,000.
