23RD GOLDEN DRUM STARTS TOMORROW IN LJUBLJANA
In the coming days Ljubljana Castle will host the global communication and advertising industry. Tomorrow, Tuesday, starts the 23rd International Festival of Creativity Golden Drum, which will last until Friday. 1215 entries from 26 countries will compete for the Golden Drum awards, as 40 different speakers take the podium, including Cindy Gallop. The four-day festival will be followed by live social events, and the highlight will be on Friday, when the results will be announced and awards presented.
“The festival has not only refreshed its visual identity, but also the location, the competition and the conference program. It is taking a new path and is clearly saying that it’s growing out of the frames of advertising and is taking a platform of creativity,” said Mojca Briščik, General Director of the Festival and the Slovenian Advertising Chamber.
Among more than 40 speakers at the Golden Drum, attendees will have the chance to hear this year’s Hall of Fame laureate, Dušan Drakalski and presidents of the juries in both competition sections, Best Piece and Best Practice, Graham Lang and Eduardo Marques. Keynote speaker at the festival will be Cindy Gallop, whose lecture How to Change the World through Advertising will be held Wednesday, 19 October, at 16.30h at the Grand Hotel Union.

GOLDEN DRUM PITCH PANEL: TABLE FOR FOUR, AND NOBODY MORE
A large amount of time and money is often wrongly invested, both by the agencies and by clients. Every year agencies stretch their budgets to pitch in more and more competitions, which ultimately results in weaker creative solutions and exhausted agency teams.
The World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) and the European Association of Communication Agencies (EACA), as well as professional associations from the region – SOZ, HURA, UEPS and MAAM, recommend calling no more than 3 + 1 agencies in the last stage of the tendering process.
Why is 3 + 1 recommendation the better solution not only for the agency but also for the client? Why do some clients continue to avoid this practice? This will be discussed at the panel Table for Four, and Nobody More on Thursday, 20 October, at 17.00h at this year’s 23rd edition of the International Festival of Creativity Golden Drum in Ljubljana.
Panel host will be Marjan Novak (Marketing Magazine EU), and guest speakers are Davor Bruketa (HURA) from Croatia, Dejan Nedić (UEPS) from Serbia, Špela Oblak (SOZ) from Slovenia, Sašo Pešev (MAAM) from Macedonia and Senad Zaimović from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
