Marketing experts gathered in the ANA chose the marketing word of the year from a pool of thirteen buzzwords that most characterized the year which is about to end. The shortlist also included words and terms such as: programmatic, transparency, storytelling, ad blocking, customer journey, disruption, experiential, fraud, Internet of Things, mediapalooza, and viewability.
As one of the reasons for choosing content marketing as the marketing word of the year, marketers cited that consumer engagement has become the most critical aspect of marketing efforts. And, according to them, high quality content is, in fact, the most important factor in achieving consumer engagement.
