“King of mobile telecommunications” is the unofficial title of Boris Nemšić, Chairman of Delta Partners, the leading global TMT consultancy and investment company. Boris knows how to perfectly plan technology development, establish an optimal mobile network, all while reducing costs and increasing company revenue.
The Croatian business genius gained this knowledge through a rich 25-year career during which he held CEO responsibilities in companies such as VIPnet, Telekom Austria and VimpelCom, followed by posts at global giants such as Delta Partners, I-New Unified Mobile Solutions, Cellwize, Frequent…
These facts are a clear indication that his lecture at this year’s Branding Conference in Sarajevo will be a real treat for communication experts of the region.
Media Marketing: What do you think is the current hit in telecommunications?
Boris Nemšić: The biggest hit is we have no idea what will be that better, faster, more exciting thing of tomorrow. We are preparing for 5G (fifth generation) mobile communications that will connect not only us to each other but also all our devices and our environment, give us opportunities for an easier life, greater efficiency in the industry, and better education.
Media Marketing: And what will it be in a year?
Boris Nemšić: If we knew that, we would probably become very rich very quickly :-) The tendency is that media and telecom companies are becoming closer. Completely new companies are being created, with completely new approach to users with new packages and services. Just look at the cable operators who have adopted this trend well before the classic telecoms, and are successfully expanding. The market is honoring this approach with far higher ratings, which in turn gives new investment opportunities and hence the development cycle becomes even faster.
Media Marketing: Mobile communications are developing at an incredible speed. How much is this development influencing the transformation of other industries, and are there industries that can follow it?
Boris Nemšić: Communications are the basis for the development of many industries. Communications and IT industries have enabled the digitization of many industries. Of the total world GDP of $63 trillion, half of it can be digitized. So far, only 6% has been digitized. So we have over $30 trillion up for grabs in front of us.
Media Marketing: What is the core message that you want to convey to participants at the Branding Conference?
Boris Nemšić: Openness, innovation, less regulation and more investment.
Media Marketing: You are one of those people with whom Sarajevo is very proud of. How often do you come to Sarajevo, and is there still something that connects you with your home town?
Boris Nemšić: Thank you. Sarajevo is my city, although I’m unfortunately too rarely there. My industry is fortunately a global one, so the job takes me all over the world. I have family, friends and wonderful feelings in Sarajevo. That’s a good reason to be here more often, although it often “bugs” me, because the telecom industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina is unfortunately not developing at an adequate speed, which truly pains me to see.
