New BalCannes Finalists: Astrofest – plakat kao sat (Studio Sonda), Baby Blues (BBDO Zagreb) and Basne koje čuvaju prirodu (Señor)

Every day, in alphabetical order, we reveal three new finalists for BalCannes 2026. The best among them will receive awards at DK Festival!

The expert juries of BalCannes, the regional creativity competition, have recognized those who stood out with their creative achievements and granted them finalist status!

Who made it to the finals? From 30 March 2026, new finalist projects will be revealed daily – Monday to Friday – on the Media Marketing portal and BalCannes’ Facebook page, continuing until April. This year’s BalCannes project showcase will again take place on social media – leading up to our gathering at DK2026.

Please note that finalists will be announced in alphabetical order by project name, so don’t miss the daily updates!

PROJECT NAME: Astrofest – plakat kao sat | ENTRANT: Studio Sonda | CLIENT: Zvjezdarnica Višnjan | COUNTRY: Croatia | CATEGORY: II. Best in Channel: 03. Best Print (Ad, Publication, Poster)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 

The challenge was to create a visual identity for Astrofest that communicates the essence of the summer solstice while capturing the uniqueness of the Venus Belt, whose colors appear in their most vivid and longest-lasting form on that day.

 Inspired by this phenomenon, the poster uses a precisely crafted color gradient that directly translates the sky’s real hues during each hour of the solstice. The color itself communicates the timing of individual performances, making the poster’s visual progression correspond to the progression of the night. The left side highlights the celestial “performances” observable from the Višnjan Observatory, while the right side presents concerts and activities on the ground.

 Text is intentionally minimal to match each time interval shown by the color, preserve the purity of the Venus Belt tones, and encourage viewers to come closer, mirroring the experience of slowly discovering details when observing the sky through a telescope.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 

Libresse has always been commited to the wellbeing of women and breaking taboos surrounding women’s health. Becoming a mother is a life changing moment that seems pretty innocent – baby is born, mother and baby are happy and healthy… or maybe not? 80% of all women suffer from baby blues. But this is something we’re not talking about. Mothers are ashamed of feeling low when they are supposed to feel joy – so they suffer in silence. That’s why we’ve put their feelings in a song – to finally be louder than baby blues! Besides the song, TV, radio, online ads and panels… we have also partnered with Hrvatska udruga doula providing counseling and care for new moms. This resulted in 820 days of online support for 100 mothers and 50 women receiving home visits. Although this wasn’t a sales campaign, there was significant growth in sales and market share.

PROJECT NAME: Basne koje čuvaju prirodu | ENTRANT: Señor | CLIENT: Udruga BIOM | COUNTRY: Croatia| CATEGORIES: II. Best in Channel: 03. Best Print (Ad, Publication, Poster); IV. Best of Positive Change: 01. Environment & Sustainability

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 

Fables That Protect Nature, a collection of fables in the form of a picture book, educates children about the importance of preserving natural balance and raises awareness of the harmful effects of wildlife poisoning. Through this project, we aim to break the generational cycle of poisoning and inspire new generations to treat nature differently from their predecessors. All fables and illustrations featured in the book are original and were created specifically for this project.
