The Young Lions Croatia competition, which every year highlights and promotes young talents from the communications industry in Croatia, once again gathered numerous creatives ready for an intense 24-hour challenge. The Grand Prix was won by Dina Javorić and Ivan Škorić from the agency Futura DDB with the project “Tipkajte nama”, which, according to the jury, offered the most successful solution to the given brief.

Young Lions Croatia is a platform where young generations of communications and marketing professionals compete for the title of the best young creatives in the country. Winning also brings the opportunity to represent Croatia at the global creativity festival Cannes Lions, where the winning teams compete with the best young creatives from around the world.

“Since this was our first time at Young Lions, we arrived without big expectations – only with the desire to have fun and be creative. That is why this news makes us especially happy. We are proud of our work and can’t wait for Cannes! Thank you all for a wonderful experience,” said the winners Dina Javorić and Ivan Škorić.

The competition was held at the Zagreb Innovation Centre (ZICER), where 96 young talents competed in pairs during the 24-hour creative challenge. Participants were tasked with developing a solution in one of six categories: Design powered by Igepa Plana, Digital, Print, PR, Media and Marketers.

In the Design powered by Igepa Plana category, first place, as well as the Grand Prix, was won by Dina Javorić and Ivan Škorić (Futura DDB). Second place went to Hana Miličević and Emma Vručinić (MinusMinus), while the finalists were Mia Kršul and Laura Novinc (Fabula).

In the Digital category, the winners were Kristijan Duvnjak and Silvija Klinar (dentsu Croatia), second place was taken by Vid Milković and Filip Britvec (dentsu Croatia), while third place went to Anita Matković and Erol Čindrak (Ured za ideje).

The best solution in the PR category was presented by Renata Blek and Lucija Mitar (dentsu Croatia). Second place was won by Nika Novak and Tena Žuger (CTA komunikacije), while the finalists were Davor Ćosić and Lara Giuliani (Bruketa&Žinić&Grey).

In the Marketers category, first place went to Ivor Boroveček and Šime Ker (Sofascore). Second place was won by Lucija Ripa and Karla Ožvald (Atlantic grupa), while Karla Ivezić and Laura Fučkala (A1 Hrvatska) finished in third place.

In the Print and Media categories, there were no winners or finalists this year.

A distinctive feature of the Young Lions Croatia competition is its non-profit character. Each year, contestants work on a brief provided by a non-profit organisation or civil society association, and the winning creative solution is granted to that organisation for use.

This year’s client was the organisation Sigurna mjesta, and the task for participants was to develop a campaign that raises awareness of street and sexual harassment and violence, while encouraging citizens to report incidents anonymously through the SafeCity application. The goal is to transform silenced experiences into visible data that can drive community action.

“Sigurna mjesta was this year’s client in the Young Lions Croatia competition. Being a client in a competition that places the challenging task of creating creative solutions for civil society organisations before young professionals from the communications and marketing field is a great honour for us. We believe that the participants finished the competition more aware of the issue of street sexual harassment. This was also reflected in the submitted works, which, in addition to a high level of creativity, demonstrate an understanding of the social issue and the power of communication as a tool for positive change,” said Dunja Bonacci Skenderović, president of the Sigurna mjesta association.

The winners will receive their awards at the ceremonial ceremony within the Dani komunikacija festival in May, and on the same day the public will have the opportunity to see presentations of the finalists and the winning solutions created during the competition.
