By a rule of thumb, intensive communication leads to errors. In yesterday’s Diary I wrote that only three agencies from the region had registered their works for the Golden Drum. That was a mistake, but not my mistake. That’s what I was told, but what I wasn’t told is that there is a list of agencies that are invited to submit their works, and the list of agencies that traditionally submit their works. The three agencies that I mentioned in yesterday’s article are from the former list. I realized that there was a mistake when I started calling agencies on Tuesday morning to lobby, and two agencies told me that they’ve already sent their works. I haven’t checked it until Mojca Briščik called me this morning and until Jelena Mihelčić from Bruketa&Žinić OM sent me an email saying that she personally registered two works of their agency, and that my information is wrong.
This is one of those mistakes that happen, but no one is to blame. I published what I was told, and what I was told is true, but not complete. Anyway, the response of agencies from the Adriatic region is good. Not perfect, but good. It will take time for the region to return to the GD, which diligently drove it away over the past fifteen years.
The book The Best of CDs is progressing well, but will not be ready for promotion at the Golden Drum, and not because of my health, but because of technical reasons. The book will be ready 15 days later. This is bad news. The good news is that I have had a long telephone conversation with Ana Ivandić from the London-based company Edition Digital, in which we ironed out all the questions about the digital edition of the book. To be honest, I still don’t know what a good digital book is, but I believe Ana when she says that our book will be done by all international standards. As it should be. It’s not a small investment, but today our little team sat down to consult. We asked ourselves what we are, and what we want to be. Do we want to be followers, or do we want to be those among the first to adopt new trends. We have decided for the latter. We prefer to be followed, rather than to follow others. The digital edition of the book will be finished on 1 December.
There were also several telephone conversations with Dunja Ballon regarding BalCannes, which again this year broke the record in the number of reported agencies. And Media Marketing has played a hand in this, because we strongly lobbied for it. Today, a jury made up of advertisers started online vote for the finalists.
I’m sorry that today I was unable to travel to the Direct Media Academy in Tuhelj. I also canceled the meetings that I had scheduled for Weekend Media Festival. The situation with my football injury is improving, and I hope to be able to travel on 8 October to Belgrade, where I am to take part in the AcademIAA program organized by IAA Serbia.
