This year, the Sarajevo Film Festival is introducing a new festival experience – thanks to UNIQA Insurance, the main sponsor of the 31st edition of the Festival, audiences will enjoy screenings at a significantly improved venue – the UNIQA Open Air Cinema Stari Grad, which will now be able to accommodate twice as many viewers.
The continuation of this strategic partnership was announced by Jovan Marjanović, Director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, Adel Bahtanović, President of the UNIQA SEE Region, and Irfan Čengić, Mayor of the Stari Grad Municipality.
“The Sarajevo Film Festival continues to develop open-air cinema spaces as key meeting points between audiences and filmmakers. With the support of UNIQA Insurance, we’re unveiling a new vision for the Open Air Cinema Stari Grad – technically upgraded, spatially expanded, and programmatically enriched. We’re especially excited that regional titles featured in our Open Air Premieres program will have their first festival moments here, offering audiences a new experience in a venue that has been significantly enhanced in terms of production and space,” said Jovan Marjanović, Director of the Sarajevo Film Festival.
The partnership between UNIQA Insurance and the Sarajevo Film Festival also includes further development of the festival’s infrastructure, along with a range of activities and an educational program to be held in the Festival Garden, organized by UNIQA Insurance.
“For UNIQA Insurance, the collaboration with the Sarajevo Film Festival goes far beyond traditional sponsorship – it is a strategic regional partnership based on shared values such as cultural development, social responsibility, and raising awareness about important issues in our community. This collaboration has already opened up numerous opportunities that are yielding tangible results. Last year, during the Sarajevo Film Festival, we announced the joint project Female Filmmakers in cooperation with the UNIQA SEE Foundation and Slano Film Days, and this year we will already have our first grant recipients who will be able to realize their film projects thanks to this program. This clearly demonstrates that both UNIQA and the Sarajevo Film Festival share the same vision – creating a better tomorrow and giving young talent the chance to bring their ideas and dreams to life. We are proud that this year, as the main sponsor, we have the opportunity to contribute even further to the Festival’s development and transform the beloved cinema in Stari Grad into an even higher-quality and unforgettable film experience for all viewers,” emphasized Adel Bahtanović, President of the UNIQA SEE Region.
The 31st Sarajevo Film Festival will take place from August 15 to 22, 2025.
