A little more than two weeks is left until 15 April, when the voting will end for ten Croatian towns in which Coca-Cola will set up training grounds in the open as part of this year’s Movement for Joy project. A large number of citizens across Croatia have joined the tight competition, and so far the websites www.pokretzaradost.hr has collected nearly 350,000 votes. Visitors to the site can follow the current order of the cities in which Coca-Cola wants to improve the living standard and give back to the community in which it operates.
Ten cities in which the active zones are most desired and most necessary are chosen by citizens themselves, who have the opportunity to vote once a day. Excellent voter turnout is an indication that Croatian citizens recognize the value that physical activity has for improving the quality of life in their local communities, making the drivers of this initiative delighted.
“Through this project we wanted to encourage the unity of citizens who in this way can fight for themselves and their city, give it valuable content, and enrich their local communities. I therefore invite all citizens to participate in the last two weeks of voting for it is their voice that can contribute to better quality of life in the local community,” said Boška Trbojević, Coca-Cola’s head of communications for Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Citizens can vote in three categories of cities – training parks, in collaboration with local authorities, will be installed in the top four ranking cities with up to 10,000 residents, in three cities with 10,000 to 35,000 residents, and in three cities with more than 35,000 residents. The main value of the project is that Coca-Cola will hand over every training park, with six devices, to permanent ownership of the local community, so it could be used by all citizens regardless of age and physical preparation. New place for recreation and socializing thus becomes accessible to all and enhances the local content.
Last year, when the initiative was launched, first ten cities in Croatia received their training parks, with only positive reactions coming from those cities on the project. Citizens regularly use these parks for recreation and socializing, and they are also used by schools and sports clubs.
The partners of the project are the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb and the Croatian Red Cross, while support to the project is provided by the Ministry of Health, Central Office for Sport and the Association of Cities in Croatia. This year’s ambassadors of the project are again Mirza Džomba, former handball player, and TV presenter Antonija Blaće.
