One advert, produced with a budget of just £50, is going viral online, with many users comparing it to the John Lewis’ latest Christmas ad with Elton John.
In stark contrast to the high budget productions, such as the one in The Boy and the Piano for John Lewis, staring Elton John, this spot shows just how much raw emotion you can pack into 2,5 minutes.
The spot features a man, patiently crossing out days on his calendar, waiting for Christmas to open his present. And the present will definitely not leave you indifferent.

The spot is titled Love is a Gift, and was made back in 2014 by filmmaker Phil Beastall. It remained unpublicized until John Lewis released their The Boy and the Piano. After the John Lewis piece, Beastall posted his video on Facebook, raking in over six million views in a matter of days.
Beastall also commented on the work’s low budget, saying “You don’t always need a huge budget, just an impactful narrative that gets the message across,” and added he believes a revolution is happening in the advertising industry.
“People no longer want to be overtly sold something which makes our job as video producers a lot harder because we have to sell indirectly,” he concluded.
